1. General information
The subject has the following objectives:
- Identify specific difficulties in learning Geography, History and Art History.
- Know the structuring concepts of historical and geographical thinking in order to design didactic activities.
- Learn to design didactic units that can be developed in a classroom of ESO or Bachillerato of the specialty of Geography and History
- Select and create didactic resources for the subjects of the specialty.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement: Goal 4: Quality education.
2. Learning results
- Explain the specific characteristics and difficulties of learning History, Geography and Art History, associating them to the predominant use of certain types of activities, methodologies, processes and learning resources.
- Describe and critically comment on a wide repertoire of activities for the learning of History, Geography and History of Art related to different types of objectives, methodologies and learning styles
- Design complete didactic units on diverse subjects of Geography, History and Art History, describing their objectives and contents and their sequence of activities. Precisely design the activities and situations of learning of these units, detailing their specific objectives, work process, associated contents, organization and evaluation, and preparing the learning environment appropriate to the process described with the necessary resources, representations, tools, technologies, forms of support and guidance for the students.
3. Syllabus
- BLOCK 1: Key concepts and issues in the Didactics of History.
- BLOCK 2: Key concepts and issues in the Didactics of Geography.
- BLOCK 3: Concepts and key issues in the Didactics of Art History and Heritage.
- BLOCK 4: Didactic units and development of learning situations and activities in the specialty of Geography and History.
4. Academic activities
Master classes: 30 hours, related to the key concepts of area didactics. 100% face-to-face.
Problems and cases: 35 hours, for the analysis of cases and completion of didactic units. 100% face-to-face.
Study of the subject; class preparation; practical activities: 5 hours, for field trips and didactic itineraries.
100% face-to-face.
Assessment tests. 10 hours, formative evaluation and presentation of didactic units. 100% face-to-face.
After the Practicum II period, the Didactic Unit will be defended orally, being essential its public defence.
5. Assessment system
The subject will be evaluated only in the global evaluation modality in all the calls, including the fifth and sixth calls through the following activities:
Test 1. Didactic unit. Complete design of a didactic unit composed of several learning situations and/or activities of contents of the specialty of Geography and History. This didactic unit design will be applied, as far as possible, in the classroom during the Practicum II and will necessarily belong to one of the subjects taught by the tutor of the center in the classes assigned to them.
This test will have a weight of 70% of the student's final grade in the subject.
Test 2. Portfolio of didactic activities. Three practical teaching-learning activities of geography, history and art history (one from each discipline) or a joint didactic proposal for the same class that integrates activities from the three disciplines of geography, history and art history in the same class (example: didactic itinerary, Story Map)will be presented.
This test will have a weight of 30% of the student's final grade in the subject.
In order to pass the subject, a minimum grade of 5 must be obtained in each of the two tests. If this grades not achieved in any of the sections, the overall grade will be the one obtained in the section not passed.
In any case, as part of the evaluation, the teacher may request, randomly or whenever they deems it appropriate, the oral defence of the written test or assignment, for the verification of the grade.
Finally, it must be taken into account that the Regulations of the Rules of Coexistence of the University of Zaragoza will be applicable to irregularities committed in the evaluation tests through academic fraud, as well as the application of article 30 of the Regulations of the Rules of Evaluation of Learning in relation to irregular practices other than academic fraud.
